You are not as they say,
life confuses me too.
Do we not walk comfortably
in the life to which we know?

The security of normalcy,
bound in expectation.
Does the heart tread carefully
to which we yearn?

Make today last,
for tomorrow is new.
When will you offer
a covenant heart?

Sunrise conceptions,
tempered in reality.
Might you risk bearing
a naked soul?

Wrought in the nightmares,
of changing solitude.
How can you know,
the heart’s next love?

(Now that you’ve read the piece, in order, from top to bottom as expected – read it two more times like this: Read the first two lines of each stanza from top to bottom followed immediately by reading the second two lines of each stanza. Three poems in one.)
