Beginnings

Bluebirds sing today,
frolicking in new green growth.
Cooler air moves on.

Hunting the hunted,
hungry eyes fetch fleeting fur.
Mountain streams play on.

Combat grips the day,
half the numbers; twice the will.
Cinco de Mayo.

Left-hand turns only,
counter clockwise rotations.
Checkered flag to one.

White and black union,
tiers of creamy white sugar.
I do.

Creaking ladders lean,
glimmering colors change face.
Stave rain for a day.

Caramel colors,
bits of cloth in decency.
It is hot today.
